The idea

Photoree is to photos what Last.fm is to music and StumbleUpon is to websites.
There are billions of images on the Internet and most of them have no particular interest to you.
The problem is how to efficiently select the most interesting ones.
Of course there are established image search engines, but no one takes in consideration the fact that you are
a unique individual, with unique taste and preferences. Photoree has a different approach:
it learns your taste, and using advanced algorithms it selects for you the photos that have big chances to interest you.
Essentially it saves your time, by serving you the images most relevant to you.

How it works

Once you register as user, Photoree creates for you a personal filter stored in the database.
This filter is responsible for the selection of the images that will be shown to you.
Photoree shows you a stream of images which you will rate. Rating is important as the algoritm
uses it to train and adapt your filter.
More the photos you rate, better the filter will learn your taste.

The explore page
|
This is the core page, where you watch and rate the image stream proposed by your filter.
The images you see are retrieved from the internet by Photoree's spiders and are indexed in the database.

The up-rated photos gallery
|
|
When you up-rate a photo, it is automatically included in your gallery of up-rated photos.
It is like your personal collection of cool images, that you can use for various purposes,
under the photo's license terms (almost all are under a Creative Commons license).
For example, some people use them to illustrate their blog entries or websites,
to create collages, or to find inspiration for their photographic activities.
Or simply for the pleasure of the eye :)

Statistics and contact list
|
|
Once you have rated enough images, the system is able to offer you some statistics, like who are the users that rated similarly to you or which are the photographs you liked the most.
You cand add other users on your contact list, and watch the cool pictures they found.
